Along with many other politicians, Congressman Scott Peters made a cordial statement celebrating January 13th as the Korean American Day through the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) website. He did it again this year, but the almost identical nature of the two statements are very intriguing. The only difference is that two extra words “rich heritage” is added to the 2016 statement.
If you didn’t know yet, January 13th commemorates the arrival of the first Korean immigrants to the United States.
And the city of San Diego recently declared the month of January 2016 as Korean American Heritage month. I found no English-language media coverage of this, but found the evidence of it in the city council meeting agenda:
