[Video] Learn Korean Alphabet

안녕하세요!

Welcome to Korean class for kids. We will start by learning the Korean alphabet.

Did you know that the Korean language is one of the few language in the world that has its own alphabet system?

And did you know that the Korean alphabet is the only alphabet in the world where the origins of who made it, and how it was made has been clearly recorded?

Let’s start by watching this video. It will show you the 14 consonants with the first vowel in the Korean alphabet. Enjoy!

This video goes through the whole alphabet with some images that follow each “syllable” to make it more entertaining.

If you would like to watch another video, here’s one! I hope none of the monsters are too scary-looking for you!

This is a quirky little video with monsters representing each syllable! I hope none of the monsters are too freaky for your little ones.

Now practice writing the letters. Remember, there are 14 consonants and 10 simple vowels. Here they are:

Consonants: ㄱ ㄴ ㄷ ㄹ ㅁ ㅂ ㅅ ㅇ ㅈ ㅊ ㅋ ㅌ ㅍ ㅎ

Vowels: ㅏ ㅑ ㅓ ㅕ ㅗ ㅛ ㅜ ㅠ ㅡ ㅣ

For writing practice, I recommended this app called 한글이야호 EBS. Use your smartphone to download one of the following links:

ANDROID iPHONE

The Korean alphabet is also known for being highly scientific. Watch the video below to learn more about what that means!

Now, please tell me what you learned from the video. Why do scholars say that Korean is a “scientific language”?

This is another fun video to practice the first letter, ㄱ!

This one is a video only for the letter “ㄱ” (the first letter in the Korean alphabet) from the series by Andrew Kim which I love! This YouTube link should show you the links for the videos of the other letters, too.
