[Meet a KKonnect Buddy] Vong Jr. Phonsiri

안녕하세요? Hello readers! My name is Vong, and I am the Vice President of SDSU’s KSA (Korean Student Association). I am a fourth year student studying the Korean language. Last month in March, SDSU KSA had its 4th annual Korean culture night. Although the Korean program is still growing, those in attendance had the opportunity to see the vision of KSA and the progress of Korean department at SDSU. I was amazed at all the wonderful performances by those involved in the San Diego Korean community. The night showcased Taekwondo as demonstrated by the local youth. One very talented woman even played the Gayageum and it was wonderful. The San Diego Kpop Flash mob had the crowd energized as they performed a dance mix of many popular Korean songs! It was a special feeling to be surrounded in a room with people who shared the same genuine interest in the Korean culture. This year’s Korean Culture Night wouldn’t have been possible without the combined efforts of all members of the Korean Student Association, students of Korean language classes, and the Department of Linguistics and Asian Languages. All in all, being a part of KSA is a great opportunity because of events such as the Korean Culture Night. On behalf of the Korean Student Association, we would like to extend our gratitude to members of the Korean community in San Diego for their support. We hope to see you next year!

Vong Jr Phonsiri is a 4th year at SDSU and serves as Vice President of SDSU’s KSA (Korean Student Association).
