Students and volunteers grow up hand in hand

  • Currently recruiting high school students as volunteers for Hand in Hand students

Hand in Hand is a non-profit school established in 2009 for students with developmental disorders to improve social adaptability and gain various experience by interacting with volunteer high school students. This school offers lots of lectures like music, art, dance, Tae-kwon-do along with learning attitudes for daily life, doing performance and having field trips every Saturday from 9 am till 12 pm at Korean United Methodist Church. This school was founded when Byung-dae Kim, who is Korean American Association’s current president, was a president with human rights research center and keenly felt the need for a school in the Korean community that serves students with developmental disorder. Currently, the group is recruiting high school students to volunteer for the program and activities will start on January 21st.

  1. Korean American Association’s end of the year party


According to the Korea Times, there were congratulatory addresses from celebrities including the LA general consul and scholarship presentation ceremony at the Korean American Association’s end of the year party. 12 students received scholarship from 15 donors and there was a service award presentation in which five people received the Presidential Service Award for their good deeds and efforts. Additionally, six people received the LA General Consul award, and nine people received the San Diego Mayor’s award. Celebration ensued with performances by San Diego Korean Folk Dance Association, San Diego Korean Pungmul School, and by various performers who participated in the talent show.

According to the Korea daily, The Cantamore Chorus, which is the group of people who love singing, successfully performed its 19th Winter Concert on December 3rd, 2016 at the Korean United Methodist Church. They have performed for 15 years, having had a lot of support from various audience.

According to the Korea daily, Yong-Jin Lee, who is the local president of SSD Plastic, was elected General Affairs President of Korean Maquiladora Association on December 3rd, 2016 at Crossing Carlsbad.

According to the Korea Daily, The San Diego Korean Women’s Golf Association held its 89th tournament on December 1st, 2016 in Rancho Bernardo. The winner was Min-Di Choi.
